ARC Core® Receives Top Marks from the Texas Resource Review

American Reading Company (ARC) today announced its ARC Core curriculum, aligned to the TEKS ELAR and ELPS, for Kindergarten through fifth grade, meets or exceeds expectations of the Texas Resource Review (TRR) which provides independent, objective curriculum reviews to assess the quality of instructional materials.

The report lauds ARC as answering the call for high-quality curriculum. ARC Core met or exceeded expectations in all non-negotiable sections: TEKS and ELPS Alignment, Quality of Text, Response to Text, and Foundational Skills. Additionally, ARC Core met or exceeded expectations in the following context-specific sections: Supports for All Learners and Ease of Use and Supports for Implementation.

Regarding the recent recognition, founder and CEO of American Reading Company and co-author of ARC Core Jane Hileman said, “Our mission is to ensure every student is reading on or above grade level, and today’s announcement gets us one step closer to making this vision a reality. Foundational literacy skills are critical to reading development. TRR has indicated that not only does ARC Core have a strong skills progression within the curriculum that will advance reading proficiency, it has the right implementation supports for teachers. We’re proud that we received 100% ratings in these critical areas. Finally, we applaud the renewed focus and national attention to what matters most—student outcomes and quality supports for teachers and schools.”

With the launch of the Texas Resource Review, Texas now joins the growing number of states (Louisiana, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont) that have conducted independent reviews and recognized ARC for the value of its high-quality instructional materials and implementation supports. School districts nationwide have gained a blueprint for adopting a curriculum that, with sustained professional learning for teachers and leaders, prepares students for college and career success.
