NBC News Education Nation Summit 2012
The big story this week: NBC's Education Nation—a series of special reports, programming, and live events being aired and posted by NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC, and Telemundo in conjunction with their third annual NYC summit, which brings together more than 300 of the country's thought leaders in education, government, business, philanthropy, and media. So far, the series has highlighted case studies of innovative solutions including essential dual-language programs, education in light of the digital revolution, the critical importance of parent involvement, and more.
Every special report we’ve heard thus far has been met with cheers at American Reading Company’s offices, and we’ve got our ears to the ground for more thoughts from the summit. Our work for years has addressed each of these elements: We’ve forged dual-language partnerships with Dr. Leo Gómez, Dr. Richard Gómez, Alma Flor Ada, and Isabel Campoy and deployed our ENIL for students learning to read and write in Spanish; developed and launched the eIRLA for use with our frameworks and eBooks through the American Reading at Home bookstore. Parent involvement? Daily home coaching is one of the non-negotiables in American Reading classrooms. The headlines coming out of the Education Nation series are worth keeping an eye on for the next couple of days, and we hope you’ll join us in doing so! Then come learn more about how American Reading Company provides the solutions deemed successful by so many thought leaders from across the country.
