Bright Futures in the Golden West
This year, Reynolds School District in Oregon is implementing a promising new literacy strategy that includes American Reading Company’s Independent Reading Level Assessment (IRLA) and professional development. Reynolds faces challenges shared by many districts across the country: Nearly three-fourths of students come from low-income households, and the 60 percent of the school population from various ethnic groups includes many kids who are learning English as a second language. ARC founder and CEO Jane Hileman joined the district recently to lend our support as they kick off the school year. The exciting changes taking place are sure to position the students, schools, and district for measurable success, and we’re looking forward to watching it all unfold!
